Paradigm Shifts
Paradigm Shifts emerged from my experiences during confinement, where memory, observation, imagination, and the outside world often collided. These works draw on prison life, political violence, desire, popular culture, imagery from diverse traditions, and personal experience, transforming familiar objects and events into surreal, dreamlike scenes. Gas masks and ski masks assert the figures’ anonymity, emphasizing their presence and actions within each scene rather than their individual identities. Through these unexpected juxtapositions, ordinary reality gives way to shifting narratives in which familiar images take on new meanings.
